I have been having a lot of fun playing with mesh core. A couple of years back I set up meshtastic gear, got excited to see that my fleapower signals could be heard a few suburbs away but interest petered out pretty quickly.
At our radio club’s last meeting a month ago, there was a wonderfully chaotic presentation about mesh core, with some members showing their gizmos and what they could do with them. The best part of course was the XYL of one member asking “Why?”.
Youtube videos from the US seem to feature guys who are getting ready for the end days. Preppers don’t seem to be part of the local scene.
The best news from the info at our club meeting was that some of the original meshtastic gear could be re-flashed with the new mesh core firmware to get on air.
There is simply no comparison with meshtastic. And there is a very active scene in Sydney and NSW, as well as Canberra and Melbourne. Much larger than what I see in videos from other parts of the ham world.
